Based in Overland Park, O'Donnell & Sons Constructions Co. Inc Sells to Superior Bowen along with two asphalt plants that were purchased from Hamm Companies, an integrated aggregates, waste services, asphalt and construction company based in Perry, Kansas.
Superior Bowen, the family-owned, Kansas City-based contractor, will start the new year with both acquisitions.
"For over 70 years, Superior Bowen has built Kansas City, and Kansas City has built Superior Bowen," CEO Trey Bowen said in a release. "We've recently expanded the amount of our business that is performed in Johnson County. The acquisition of O'Donnell & Sons Construction, as well as the Olathe and Louisburg plants of the Hamm Companies, were the perfect opportunities to continue that growth-focused strategy."
Founded in 1973 by John O'Donnell and his father Jack O'Donnell, O'Donnell & Sons Construction is a family-owned site construction and heavy highway contractor with its own asphalt plant in Olathe. John's brothers Barney, Mike and Larry O'Donnell also worked in the family business, according to an article in the Heavy Constructors Association of Greater Kansas City's newsletter in 2013.
Superior Bowen specializes in site work and road construction, and according to a release from the company, the acquisitions represent a doubling down on the company's commitment to Johnson County.
