James Printing of North Kansas City recently sold its business to Modern Litho, a full-service magazine, catalog and commercial printer based in Jefferson City, Mo. The acquisition of James Printing is part of a bigger picture to expand in the Kansas City market and increase it's presence here.
James Printing was established 44 years ago by Evan James, who will remain President of the company, with one mission in mind: to help customers achieve their print and graphic arts goals while delivering an“extreme” level of customer service on each and every job. The acquisition of the company will further enhance their level of print and graphic arts goals by increasing their capabilities.
The locally-owned printing solutions company has worked for a variety of industries including healthcare, entertainment, education, publishing, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and telecommunications, among others.
Modern Litho also purchased St.Louis-based Midtown Printing in 2013 as a part of their strategic growth model. The 80-year-old company reported sales of $31.78 million in its most recent fiscal year, an increase of 7% over its previous fiscal year. James Printing had $8 million in revenue during the same time frame.
“A Kansas City location has been a target for expansion for us for many years. We found James Printing to be complementary to our company, not only in its quality of product and service offerings, but also in their culture and values. We will continue the tradition James Printing has been known for in serving clients, and enhance the client experience with further investments in the latest print technologies,” commented Darrell Moore, President of Modern Litho.
