HSB Marketing Acquired by DEG - O'Keeffe and O'Malley

HSB Marketing Acquired by DEG

Jan 14, 2016

DEG, a full-service digital agency and one of the fastest-growing companies in the country, has acquired HSB Marketing, a Kansas City-based digital analytics and loyalty marketing company focusing on database analytics, website analytics, and loyalty programs.

DEG is a full-service digital agency that helps clients with data-driven marketing, commerce, and collaborative solutions. The agency was named one of Inc. Magazine's "25 Companies Changing the World." Clients include Purina, Timberland, Crocs, Hallmark and AEG.

“This acquisition, in addition to the Salesforce Ventures investment in DEG a year ago, only strengthens our leadership as one of the largest and leading email marketing practices in the country,” said Dale Hazlett, CFO and co-founder of DEG. “HSB’s expertise in loyalty programs, customer databases, and analytical insights will greatly complement and enhance our existing email marketing practice, as well as our analytics, targeting, and data management services.”

HSB has worked with some of Kansas City’s most recognized brands, including Hallmark for its Crown Rewards loyalty program, as well as analytics forecasting and programming for H&R Block. HSB and DEG share several of the same clients, including Hallmark, who has been a DEG client for eight years.

“The entire team is incredibly thrilled to be a part of the DEG family,” said JD Henning, former CEO of HSB Marketing who will now lead DEG’s loyalty marketing practice. “We could not pass on the opportunity to be part of one of the premier digital companies in the country. As importantly, the reputation, culture, and values of DEG made this an easy decision. We look forward to adding a loyalty component to DEG’s service offerings and accelerating its already terrific growth.”

DEG will retain HSB’s Crown Center offices, which is the second office space, along with DEG’s office in Des Moines, outside of the agency’s headquarters in Overland Park.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
