CPI Automation & Control Solutions of Denver recently sold their company to Merriam-based Barr-Thorp Electric Co. Inc for an undisclosed amount.
Barr-Thorp Electric Company is a third generation, family-owned business established in 1923 as a motor sales and repair facility. They primarily supply products that require engineering assistance for proper selection and installation. However, as a full-line distributor, they offer a full breadth of products including items that are commonly considered commodities.
Barr-Thorp has four locations located in Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. Serving the Colorado and Rocky Mountain region since 1948, CPI Automation & Control Solutions is an Electrical Distributor who has established a reputation as the Colorado electrical controls experts.
“This acquisition expands our geographical presence in the Midwest. Based on the history, market focus, and technical nature of the product offerings between the two companies, it seemed only natural to join forces,” said Todd Thorp, President of Barr-Thorp Electric. “I’ve admired CPI Automation for many years and I’m excited for the opportunity to work with the new members of our Barr-Thorp team.”
