Feb 02, 2015

Kansas City, MO-based Cerner Corporation has announced it closed on the acquisition to acquire the assets of Siemens’ health information technology business unit, called Siemens Health Services.

Cerner is a global leader in health information technology, creating tools that allow clients to manage the health of populations. They offer an integrated clinical and financial system to help health care organizations manage revenue, as well as a wide range of services to support clients’ clinical, financial and operational needs.

Siemens Health Services provides clinical and financial IT products and services to customers. Cerner will continue to support Siemens products, and the acquisition will provide cross-selling opportunities for both parties.

Combined, the two companies estimate they will have 20,000 associates in more than 30 countries, 18,000 client facilities, $4.5 billion of annual revenue, and $650 million of annual R&D investment.

The acquisition price was $1.3 billion in cash plus working capital adjustments.
