Scarbrough Buys Brokerage Businesses

Kansas City, MO-based Scarbrough International, Ltd., an international logistics and U.S. Customs brokerage firm, has accepted terms to acquire both Laredo Becnel, Inc., a Laredo, TX-based U.S. Customs broker and Despachos HuGO S.C. a Nuevo Laredo, Mexico-based Customs brokerage and logistics firm.

This stragetic acquisition will add 14 employees from both brokerages and will expand Scarbrough's capability throughout the south and into Mexico. The move will also expand Scarbrough's client base in Texas and the southern United States. The acquistion is expected to close on August 1, 2015.

Scarbrough International has offices in Kansas City, St. Louis, Des Moines and Chicago, along with Asian headquarters in Shanghai, China. Three of Scarbrough's offices are located along the I-35 NAFTA corridor.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
