Kansas City Vascular Practices Merge

North Kansas City, MO-based Kansas City Vascular PC and Liberty, MO-based Vascular Surgery Associates PC have announced a merger. The combined companies will become the largest vascular surgery practice in the area. The newly-formed company will be called Midwest Aortic & Vascular Institute PC, or MAVI.

MAVI will rebrand offices in Independence, Liberty and North Kansas City, and will open a new office in Lee’s Summit in early 2016. The group will have seven vascular surgeons, four nurse practitioners, four ultrasound technicians and 31 other staff members. There are no staff reductions planned.

Dr. Karl Stark, who formed Kansas City Vascular in 1984, will serve a two-year term as president. Dr. Michael Deiparine from Vascular Surgery Associates will serve as vice president and take over presidential duties after Dr. Stark’s term.

MAVI will serve on the medical staff of 12 regional hospitals and a MAVI physician will serve as medical director for Centerpoint Medical Center’s Advanced Wound Care Center, North Kansas City Hospital’s Wound Healing Center and ST. Mary’s Medical Center’s Center for Wound Care and hyperbaric Medicine.
